Shirts off for a worthy cause

Friday afternoon around 5.00pm I could hear women screaming outside of Petticoat Lane. I mean a wild primal kind of screaming. I have only heard this a few times before, once in a London night club when Pdiddy made an appearance and the other, seeing a bunch of ravenous girls taunting some poor male stripper on a hen’s night. (yep, that’s been me!)

Blake and Ck 106.3

Blake and Ck from 106.3 had been talking about this event all week. Tacklebox was a one night only female version and reaction to the Hooters restaurant that will be opening in Townsville soon.  I wasn’t the only one listening to Blake and Ck’s radio quips and breaking into fits of laughter. With classic lines such as

“Fishing for a good night? Well we will bait up your hooks at the Taklebox. Rex Hunt won’t be throwing these back”

Walking over to my favourite neighbour, Cactus Saloon, I could see girls on the top of Cactus’s Sky Bar whistling and barracking (its only 5.30pm) this was quite a crazy and fun event Ck and Blake had put together. It was packed to the brim with women taking part in all the fun festivities.  Gentlemen oiled and shirtless  walking around in their tightie whities (Tacklebox written on the back and a picture of cherries to the front- classic) bringing girls platters of food, champagne cocktails,  helping out with head and shoulder massages and just being all round good sports really. Above all the shouting, giggling and squealing was the word of the night “Penis” I don’t think I’ve heard it used that liberally before and with every word uttered from the astounded Ck and Blake, a substantial ROAR would follow from us girls. Ck and Blake, I take my hat off to you... it was hilarious!

This was an ingenious idea to raise much needed money and awareness for a fantastic cause. Men’s Prostate Cancer http://www.prostate.org.au  over 200 ladies attended with $500 raised. Petticoat Lane was happy to be involved with a lucky door prize.  So when’s the next event boys!
