League of Extraordinary Women

I’m really excited to write about the very talented photographer Rosana Kersh and the inspiring women seen throughout her work. Not only do Rosana and I share a common background with growing up in the outback of Queensland but we also share a love for all things creative. Rosana was educated by School of the Air on her sheep and cattle station, there was no television and so kept busy creating things, drawing, painting and finding inspiration from the world around her.

Rosana graduated with a Diploma in Commercial Art and Photography from James Cook University. Living in Townsville since 2003, Rosana passionately immersed herself into photography. Her work is a mix of fashion and hair along with commercial photography, as well as family portraits, weddings and children’s photos. I was lucky enough to capture a few photos during Rosana’s shoot along with the inner workings of her new studio 181 Flinders Street.

Whether its fashion or corporate, Rosana has a sartorial eye for bringing the finest details to life.  Rosana has worked with one of Townsville’s most exquisite local artists Katelyn Aslett, her photography has captured the innovative fusion Katelyn’s  work brings, showcasing the blend of natural silks and wool fleece her garments hold with adoring refinement.

Katelyn describes her creative style “I strive to create textiles of intensity and freshness, both joyful and spirited, and above all relaxed and embracing. Reflecting textural and organic sculptural forms with a creative artistic passion for design, that makes each piece a delight.”
Katelyn Aslett's fashion pieces are liberating and exciting and can be found in her new shop on Flinders Mall.

Rosana’s talent also crosses over into the corporate world, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to write about a good friend and successful business woman Lesley Sims, owner of Silver Lining Marketing. In the image Lesley’s dress is angelic, set against the large bay window of light on an ethereal white canvas. Honest purity, which I think reflects her business.

Lesley is a fun Townsville character. As focused and determined as she is, there is an openness to her that is remarkably inspiring. For Rosana Kersh, capturing Lesley’s vision and reflecting her personality into Silver Linings corporate image was achieved through relaxed effortless style. Lesley is innovative and passionate with great ability, not only running her own business, but helping others build theirs. Through Rosana’s images, she has conveyed this ease and familiarity which customers relate to.

I hope you enjoy these local images and the great women reflected within them, as I do.

  1. Thanks Emma and Rosana.

I really enjoyed my time with Rosana, playing around and in the end getting some brilliant shots! Rosana is so talented and I am usually very shy when having my photo taken, but felt so comfortable during the shoot.

Thanks for the words of confidence Em... loved reading this blog! xo
